Biometric authentication update

Which of my transactions need biometric authentication?

From July 1, 2024, according to Decision 2345/NHNN of the State Bank, transactions exceeding the limit must be authenticated biometrically using facial recognition when performing transactions on Techcombank Mobile or Techcombank Online Banking, specifically:

  • Transfers over 10 million VND per transaction, cumulatively over 20 million VND per day.
  • Payments over 100 million VND per transaction or cumulatively over 100 million VND per day.
  • International transactions or foreign currency exchanges.
  • The first financial transaction on a new device, first login, or when changing the device used for Techcombank Mobile.
  • Batch transfers and tax payments on eTax Mobile.

 

From January 1, 2025, according to Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN, customers cannot make transactions on Techcombank Mobile, Techcombank Online Banking, or card transactions if they have not updated their biometrics.

What will my biometric information be used for at the bank?

Starting from July 1, 2024, Techcombank will apply an additional biometric authentication step for your transactions to meet the State Bank's security standards and to protect customer assets when performing certain transactions on digital banking channels. If the information matches, the transaction will proceed; if not, the system will request you to retake the photo and the transaction will not be processed at that time.

Where can I check the status of my biometric information update in Techcombank Mobile?

To check the status of your biometric information, please follow these instructions on Techcombank Mobile:

  • Access Techcombank Mobile, select the top left icon, choose "Settings", then select "Personal Information".
  • If the "Biometric Information" field status is "Updated", you have successfully updated your biometric information. If the screen displays the message "Supplement biometric information to complete account security", you have not completed the registration and need to update your biometric information.

How can I know if my device supports reading chip information from the Citizen Identification Card?

When following the instructions on Techcombank Mobile to update biometric information, on the introduction screen, press "Update Now". The system will automatically recognize if your mobile device is capable of reading the chip on the Citizen Identification Card (NFC).

 

If a message appears saying "Please visit the branch to update information", it means your mobile device does not support this technology.

I used my old ID card to open an account. Do I need to visit the bank to update my information when adding biometric information on the new Citizen Identification Card with a chip?

To ensure a seamless experience when adding biometric information using the new Citizen Identification Card with a chip, Techcombank also supports updating the Citizen Identification Card information in the system when you complete the biometric information update. You can update your Citizen Identification Card information while adding biometric information on the Techcombank Mobile application (applicable to devices that support NFC chip reading) or at Techcombank branches.

 

Customers with old ID cards/Citizen Identification Cards will be supported with biometric updates at Techcombank transaction counters.

After July 1, 2024, do I need to update my biometric information to perform transactions?

After July 1, 2024, online transactions that fall under the regulations of the State Bank and Techcombank will require biometric authentication. Other online transactions not under these regulations will continue to be processed as usual.

 

From January 1, 2025, according to Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN, customers cannot make transactions on Techcombank Mobile, Techcombank Online Banking, or card transactions if they have not updated their biometrics.

If my phone doesn't have FaceID, can I still update my information?

Biometric updates are done by taking a photo with the front camera of the phone, so if your device does not have FaceID, it will not be affected.

Can I ask a relative to bring my ID to update information for me? And how can it be done?

Currently, Techcombank offers two channels to update biometric information:

1. Techcombank Mobile

2. Techcombank branchs.

You need to use your identification documents and personally perform the biometric information update.

I opened my account using NFC which collected information from the chip of the Citizen Identification Card, why do I need to collect it again?

From March 31, 2024, customers who open accounts using NFC from the chip of the Citizen Identification Card will not need to collect biometric information again.

Can I update biometric information after July 1, 2024? And how can I update it?

After July 1, 2024, customers can still update biometric information via Techcombank Mobile or bring their chip-enabled Citizen Identification Card to Techcombank branches/transaction counters, where staff will assist with the update.

I used Techcombank's card to withdraw money at another bank's ATM, but the card was swallowed. So, which bank should I contact to get my card back?

You can call Hotline: 1800588822 or visit any Techcombank’s transaction office or branch for help

I am abroad and can’t make transactions via my card, what should I do?

There are many reasons why you can’t make transactions via your card. Please contact Techcombank's Hotline 24/7 – the phone number on the back of the card for assistance in checking card status.

When I withdraw money, I received torn money, crumpled money, or money without a corner, what should I do?

You can go to any Techcombank’s branch/transaction office to exchange the money. There will be no fees for this transaction.

When I make transactions at the supermarket, due to running out of receipt paper, the staff has swiped my card twice, my account has been charged twice, what should I do?

You need to do the following 2 steps:
1. Sign on 1 payment invoice (for units)
2. Then call the Hotline number on the back of the card for assistance with tracing 

I don’t remember my card’s PIN, can I call the Hotline for the PIN?

In this case, you need to register via F@st i-bank or a branch/transaction office to request a new PIN. You only call the Hotline in case the card is locked due to incorrect PIN input and still remember your PIN.

How can I know the account number?

You can do one of the following ways:
1. Insert the card into any Techombank’s ATMs for information; or
2. Using the phone number registered with the bank to call Techcombank's Hotline at 1800 588 822; or
3. Look up via F@st i-bank, F@st Mobile

I want to be issued a Techcombank card with some lucky final numbers or can I choose a lucky number for my account?

At the present time, the card personalization system is secure and cannot be interfered, so it cannot be selected under your request. However, it is possible to choose a customer ID with a nice number and charge a fee according to the Bank's regulations from time to time.

To be able to use Techcombank Visa international credit/debit cards, do I have to change my PIN for the first time at ATMs?

You can use the same PIN issued by Techcombank or you can change it to another PIN (at Techcombank’s ATMs) to use the cards.

I forgot my card’s PIN, what should I do?

You can go to any Techcombank’s transaction office or branch to request a PIN re-issuance or send a PIN re-issuance request via F@st i-bank service. PIN re-issuance fee is regulated by Techcombank from time to time. PIN renewal fee for debit cards/credit cards is available here

I don’t remember my card’s PIN, can I call the Hotline for the PIN?

In this case, you need to register via F@st i-bank or a branch/transaction office to request a new PIN. You only call the Hotline in case the card is locked due to incorrect PIN input and still remember your PIN.

What is CVV2?

CVV stands for Card Verification Value. CVV2 is a code to authenticate cardholders when making transactions via cards on the Internet

When making an Internet payment via my Visa card, I discovered that the CVV2 number on the back of the card only had 2 numbers or it was blurred and could not be read, so I couldn't pay, can I apply for a re-issuance of the card or get any support?

In case the time of complaint is less than 6 months since the card is issued, Techcombank will get the card back and consider supporting the re-issuance free of charge. In case it is more than 6 months, please go to Techcombank's branch/transaction office to re-issue a new card according to regulations.

What is MOTO Transaction?

MOTO Transaction (Mail Order/Phone Order): is a transaction where the cardholder uses the card’s information to order goods and services via phone or email or other means of communication from agents where the card is accepted. In which, the card and/or the cardholder does not have to be present at the agents

My card has just been issued but can't be used, can I get any support from Techcombank?

It depends on when the card was issued and the cause of the card being unusable. If it’s not due to you, after receiving the complaint, Techcombank will support, so that you can continue to use Techcombank's card service.

My card is broken and it cannot be used anymore, what should I do?

You can go to any Techcombank’s transaction office or branch to request a card re-issuance

Can I make Internet transactions via my card without OTP passwords (One-time password)?

You can only use OTP passwords at websites that integrate 3D Secure Verified by Visa service

I want to increase my transfer limit via e-banking service, can I apply through this channel? Is there a fee for this request?

You can go to any branch/transaction office of Techcombank for support in registering to change transaction limit or use the service of registering for change of transaction limit online via F@st Mobile application (up to 3 billion VND). Your  request is completely free of charge

Will I be charged a fee for my temporary card limit increase request?

In this case, you will not be charged any fees.

What fees do I have to pay when making payments in USD via cards?

- Debit card: foreign currency conversion management fee and transaction processing fee
- Credit card: foreign currency transaction fee

How is Techcombank's Zero-fee program applied?

The program is applicable to all customers using Techcombank's e-banking services: free of all transfer fees (including interbank transfers, 24/7 instant transfers and money transfers within the Techcombank system). Customers will 100% free for all payment transaction fee, registration fee and service maintenance fee.

Which channels can I make a request for some help on card?

When making payment, ask the cashier to apply special offers for Techcombank cardholders, you will receive a discount directly on the total bill

I received an email notifying me of an offer for purchasing a product at a cosmetic brand with the code 'Techcombank', what should I do?

You visit the official website of that cosmetic brand to make purchases and payments and then enter the code “TECHCOBANK” to receive a direct discount for your order.

I was informed about Techcombank's discount up to 20% when buying air tickets at AirAsia, what kind of offer is this?

You visit the official website of Air Asia, select your journey, and make payment. At the payment step, you only need to enter your card information to pay, if you receive a request to enter a code to apply the offer, then enter the code. If the code is not mentioned, the offer will be applied through Techcombank's card information, after you enter the card information, the price will be updated with the reduced discount price, and you complete the purchase.

What should I do when I lose my card?

When you lose your card, you need to immediately contact Techcombank to lock your card in the following ways:
- Lock your card online via Techcombank's F@st i Banking/F@st Mobile service
- Call Techcombank's hotline: 1800588822/180588823 (free) (if you are in Vietnam) or +84-24-3944 9626 (if you are abroad) for support in locking your card

How many classes does Techcombank Spark international credit card have and what is the credit limit of each class?

Techcombank Spark international credit card is a Platinum card of MasterCard with a credit limit of VND 50 million or more.

I want to apply for Techcombank Spark international credit card issuance, but I don't have enough proof of income. So, what should I do?

If you are an existing customer of VinID and satisfy the conditions for issuing Techcombank Spark international credit cards, we will actively contact or notify you via the application on your smartphone.

I already have a Techcombank Visa international credit card, can I be issued another Techcombank MasterCard international credit card?

Yes, you can. You can maintain 2 types of credit cards at the same time. However, the total credit limit of both your credit cards at the same time cannot exceed the maximum credit limit that you were granted by Techcombank.

What is the credit limit granted to the supplementary cardholders of Techcombank Spark?

The supplementary cardholders can use the same limit with the primary cardholder. The specific limit is requested by the primary cardholder but not exceeding the credit limit granted to the primary cardholder by the bank

I want the bank to issue a supplementary card of my Techcombank Spark for my child. So, does my child need proof of income?

According to Techcombank's regulations, supplementary cardholders do not need to prove their income

What is the statement date? How do I know my credit card’s statement date?

Statement date is the date when Techcombank makes a statement detailing transactions arising in the statement period related to the issuance and use of your credit card (including primary and supplementary cards). The statement date is shown on the statement sent to you.

How can I activate my Techcombank Spark credit card?

There are 2 ways to activate your credit card:
You compose a message with the following syntax:
TCBKHT <first 6 digits last 4 digits of card> <ID number/Passport/CCCD> send to 8049.
Example: TCBKHT 4220751234 0123456789
OR You login Techcombank's F@st Mobile app, then select “Card” section to activate the card.

To be able to use my Techcombank Spark international credit card, am I required to change my PIN for the first time at ATMs?

No. You can use the card immediately without changing your PIN for the first time at ATMs.

Can I change my statement date?

Techcombank sets a specific statement date for each credit card. If you want to use a card with a statement date different from the current one, you need to change the card type/card class to match that statement date. In some cases, you need to cancel and pay off the balance of the old card.

How can I pay off my credit card balance?

You can pay off your credit card balance in one of the following ways:
Automatic debit: You register for automatic debit service at any transaction office or branch of Techcombank or via F@st i-Bank (Internet Banking). You can register to pay the minimum value or pay the full balance of the credit card statement.


Make payment via F@st i-Bank or F@st Mobile or ATM: You make online transfer/payment of credit card debt balance from your current account opened at Techcombank to their credit card account


Make payment by cash or transfer at Techcombank's transaction counter: You can go to any Techcombank’s transaction office or branch toyou’re your credit card balance by payment by cash or transfer from your current account opened at Techcombank to your credit card account.


Transfer from another bank: You transfer money from another bank with the following information: your full name, your credit card account number, (shown clearly on the periodic statement).

When I use Techcombank Spark international credit card to withdraw cash at another bank's ATMs, will I have to pay a fee? How much is the fee?

For withdrawal transactions with Techcombank Spark international credit card at another bank's ATMs, Techcombank will charge a fee of 4% of the transaction value and a minimum of 100,000 VND (10% VAT included). In addition, you may incur an additional fee collected by the host bank of the ATM, this fee is different depending on the regulations of each bank.

I make payments via Techcombank Spark international credit card and pay in USD for the store, will I have to pay a fee?

When using Techcombank Spark credit card to pay bills in foreign currencies, Techcombank will collect a fee for your foreign currency spending management at the rate prescribed by Techcombank from time to time. Please see the fee here.

If I transfer payments for my credit card at 10pm on the due date, will I be charged a late payment fee?

Yes. The payment of your debt is only counted as successful when Techcombank's system records your transaction (Techcombank receives a statement with the stated actual amount). Payments received after Techcombank's working hours will be carried over to the next working day

I register to debit the minimum value, on the due date of payment I paid more than the minimum, will the system continue to debit?

In this case, the system will not deduct any further debt. If you want to pay the full balance of your statement, you must pay/transfer money to your credit card account for payment.

If my statement date is Sunday, December 10th, which date will it be moved?

If the statement date is Saturday, Sunday or public holidays, the statement date will be moved up 02 working days before. Specifically, the statement date will be moved to Friday, December 8th

When accessing the e-statement, what information do I need to input?

You need to enter the last 4 digits of the card and enter a random security code automatically provided by the system

Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa credit card

How many classes does Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit card have and what is the credit limit of each class?

Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit card has 3 classes: 

  • Techcombank Visa Classic: credit limit from 10 million VND to less than 50 million VND
  • Techcombank Visa Gold: credit limit from at least 50 million VND
  • Techcombank Visa Platinum: credit limit from at least 90 million VN

I want to apply for Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit card, but I don't have enough proof of income. So, what should I do?

If you are subject to pre-approval according to Techcombank’s regulations, we will actively contact you or notify you via the application on your smartphone.
If you are not subject to pre-approval and do not have enough proof of income, you should register to be issued a card in the form of a passbook mortgage.
If you have a Lotusmiles card of Titan class or higher and have a minimum validity of 2 months, you do not have to submit proof of income.

If I’m issued Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit card in the form of collaterals, what types of assets can be used as collaterals?

Techcombank only applies the mortgage of the passbook opened at Techcombank as a collateral for the issuance of credit cards in the form of collaterals.

I already have a Techcombank Visa international credit card. So, can I be issued more Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit cards?

Yes. You can maintain 2 types of credit cards at the same time. However, the total credit limit of both your credit cards at the same time cannot exceed the maximum credit limit granted to you at Techcombank.

I want the bank to issue a Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa supplementary card for my family members. So, do my family members need to be a Lotusmiles’ member?

According to Techcombank's current regulations, the supplementary cardholders do not need to be Lotusmiles’ members

I want the bank to issue a supplementary Techcombank Visa international credit card for my child. So, does my child need proof of income?

According to Techcombank's regulations, it’s not necessary for the supplementary cardholders to prove their income.

How is the credit limit granted to the supplementary cardholders of Vietnam Airlines Techcombank Visa international credit card?

What are the conditions to be issued a F@stAccess card?

To be issued a F@stAccess debit card, you just need:
1. Person aged full 15 years or older
2. Have a current account at Techcombank

At which ATMs can I use my F@stAccess card?

Besides Techcombank's ATMs, you can use your F@stAccess card at ATMs of all banks in the Napas card alliance nationwide.

Am I required to change my PIN for the first time before using my F@stAccess card?

According to Techcombank's regulations, you need to change your PIN for the first time before using your F@stAccess card.

My F@stAccess card PIN has several numbers. Can I change my password with 5 numbers?

The required F@stAccess card PIN consists of 6 numbers.
Please note that you do not give your PIN to others, do not save it on paper. Avoid using your ID number or date of birth as a PIN.

Can I use my F@stAccess card to make online payments?

Yes. You can use your F@stAccess card to make online payments on websites that accept F@stAccess cards (for example, Vietnam Airlines’s website, ...)

Can I use my F@stAccess card to transfer money from Techcombank’s account to my account at another bank on ATMs?

You can only use your F@stAccess card to transfer money from Techcombank’s account to another beneficiary account in Techcombank’s system on Techcombank’s ATMs.

Will my F@stAccess card be automatically activated the Internet?

Your F@stAccess debit card is automatically activated for online payments right after issued
If you do not have the need to use this feature, you need to cancel with the bank immediately upon registration for card issuance.

Which websites can I apply my F@stAccess card, is it safe?

1. Your card can be paid online at domestic websites (merchant country is Vietnam) or other websites that allow payments via Napas
2. When paying online via F@st Access card, in addition to the PIN to enter, the transaction is secured by a password verification step that is automatically sent to you to complete the transaction.

I entered the wrong password many times when I made an online payment via F@stAccess card, what should I do?

Please contact Customer Service 24/7 at: 1800588822/ 1800588823 (for priority customers) or go to the nearest branch for support.

My debit card has expired but there is still money in my account. So, will I lose the remaining money in my account?

The remaining amount in your account as well as your account for card issuance will still be maintained. However, you should be issued another F@stAccess card to replace the expired card for convenience of use.

When I lose my card, how can I lock it as quickly as possible?

Please do one of the following:
1. Contact Techcombank Customer Service 24/7 on 1800 588 822 or (24) 3944 6699 (for overseas customers)
2. Login user of your F@st i-bank account to make a request to lock your card permanently or temporarily

Can I be reopened my F@stAccess debit card if I have previously asked my bank to temporarily block it due to suspicion that the card has been misused?

With F@stAccess debit card, you can be re-opened your card, the bank will receive your request for help in unlocking your card via branch/transaction office, or via F@st i-bank. However, you need to consider reopening because the card has potential risks in the future.

What kinds of cards is the “Cashback 1% - Swipe is happy” program for?

The program "Cashback 1% - Swipe is happy" is a cashback program on the total value of payment via Techcombank's debit cards that customers use for transactions.
