At the Conference on Investment Promotion in the Northwest that took place on April 3-4, 2013, Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) donated VND 6 billion to Yen Bai province for the province’s health and education development.

Yen Bai, a province in the northern mountains, still lacks a lot of basic infrastructure, especially school facilities, health care service, cultural facilities, and so forth. Currently in the provincial city of Yen Bai, there are a number of residential areas without a cultural and educational community centre functioning as a place for the community’s cultural activities and communication about guidelines and policies of the government. The health clinics in the provincial city also do not meet the primary health care needs of the people. With VND 6 billion, Techcombank plans to construct 04 cultural and educational community centres and 02 community health centres in the communes of the provincial city’s outskirts.

Furthermore, Techcombank plans to spend another VND 260 million for supporting poor and studious students in the provinces of Lao Cai, Lang Son, Nghe An, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Yen Bai. This funding is part of the “Red Scarf to school in 2013” program that has been running annually by Techcombank over the last 3 years. The “Red Scarf to school in 2013” program will also reserve VND 150 million to support the poor and studious students in the Central Highlands provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Lam Dong.

Beside the focus on business investment and development in the past 20 years, Techcombank has always attached great importance to practical and meaningful CSR activities, with special attention to and significant investment in the field of education. The investment in these activities has become increasingly focused, which reflects the strong commitment of Techcombank in contributing to the society’s overall development.
