Recently, some software on mobile devices which have appeared in Vietnam and over the world, contain malware used by high-tech criminals to collect information and appropriate victims' property.

To protect your information and property, you are warned the following common scam scenarios:

Regarding the Ajina.Banker malware, the Telegram application is often used to spread messages containing installation links and accompanied by fraudulent gifts and promotions.

Step 1:

LURE TO INSTALL SOFTWARE

Step 2:

COLLECT VICTIM INFORMATION

Step 3:

APPROPRIATE VICTIM PROPERTY

The phishing link containing the Ajina.Banker malware is sent to victims.

The gullible victims install the malware on mobile device.

The installed software will have ability to:

  • Access SMS messages, manage information retrieval of phone numbers, telecommunications networks, financial applications... on victims’ mobile device.

  • The above information is transferred to the scammers' control server.

Fake websites are continuosly created and used to lure victims into filling in their bank account information.

Once necessary information is collected to perform actions such as logging into the bank account, contacting victims' friends and relatives,... to defraud, appropriate property.

Regrading the Necro 2.0 malware which is found in the Wuta Camera - Nice Shot Always camera software or the Max Browser-Private & Security browser.

Step 1:

LURE TO INSTALL SOFTWARE

Step 2:

STEAL VICTIM INFORMATION

Step 3:

APPROPRIATE VICTIMS PROPERTY

The phishing link containing the Necro 2.0 malware is sent to victims.

The gullible victims install the malware on mobile device.

The installed software will have ability to:

  • Register for paid services, run ads.

  • Collect and send user data from victims' mobile device to the scammers’ server.

  • Install new malware (by downloading and running .dex files).

The victims are lured to register services with fee charge, advertisement run... that cause illegal revenue and appropriated victims' property.

Continue to commit fraud through other malicious software.

 

To to prevent malware, Techcombank would recommend you that:

1 For software/ application on mobile devices:
  Use app market such as: Google Play, App Store and other reputable organizations when finding and installing apps.

Do not install applications from unknown sources. 

Do not click/access the installation link if its origin is unknow, be careful with links spread via SMS messages, social channels such as Telegram, Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok, Threads...

2 For operating systems and mobile devices:
 

Update the latest version of the operating system to ensure that the device always receives the latest security standards.

Use anti-virus software for mobile devices to enhance security and prevent external threats.

Use biometric account authentication methods such as fingerprint, FaceID... to log in to the device, banking applications and other payment applications.

Do not use jailbroken devices.
3 Others:
  Be careful when receiving gifts, promotions... online because there are many disguised forms of fraud. Do not share or provide personal information or confidential information when requested via social media channels or messaging applications such as Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, Viber...
