1. Stealing card data & swapping the chip:

Scammers exploit moments of inattention during card payments at stores or restaurants to swap the real chip with a fake one. They later use the stolen chip to conduct unauthorized transactions. These actions often happen very quickly and discreetly.

2. Impersonating bank staff to collect card information:

Fraudsters pose as bank employees, calling or texting customers to request sensitive card information such as card number, expiration date, CVV, or OTP codes. They often use the excuse of upgrading the card, increasing card limit, waiving annual fee, verifying account or offering special promotions. Once obtained, they use this data to access your funds.

3. Fake card issuance fees scam:

Some scammers pretend to be from courier companies or banks, calling customers and demanding a “delivery fee” or “issuance fee” for their card. They may threaten to cancel the card if payment is not made. Please note: Techcombank does not charge any fees for card issuance or delivery.

To protect yourself, here’s what you should and shouldn’t do:

Always keep your card in sight during transactions at stores or restaurants.

Check your card after each transaction to ensure it has not been tampered with.

Only provide card information via official banking channels when necessary.

Never share your OTP, CVV, card number, or expiration date with anyone — even someone claiming to be a bank representative.

Don’t hand your card over to strangers or lose sight of it during a transaction.

Don’t transfer money or pay any fees for card issuance or delivery. These services are completely free.

Avoid clicking on suspicious links sent via email or text messages from unknown sources.

We hope that you will always be vigilant to protect your personal information and assets.

Sincerely thank you very much for your cooperation and companionship!
